KWH

KWH resembles the painted facade of a corner store deli, particularly those portions that advertise meat and produce. The surface of the work, mounted canvas, is masked by a thin layer of transparent fabric, which displays the artist’s initials in large block letters. The center of the work houses an embedded computer monitor displaying an animated .gif depicting the mythical “sword in the stone” after its removal. The viewer is led to the canvas by a floating white runway. The runway is interrupted by a concrete pillar that is designed to suggest a blank sign.
